10.30am – 12noon – I’ve started my business, now what? with Dodd & Co Accountants

An introduction designed to help anyone who is intending to start up in business or who has recently become self employed and who needs advice and guidance.  This session offers a general overview of many different issues which will be relevant to the business owner.

Topics covered include:

Reflecting on the pros and cons of self employment
Looking at the business structure and thinking about partnership and incorporation
Considering taxes, what and when to pay
Maximising claims for expenses

Focusing on essential elements that make up the customer’s experience this session explores ways that will enable you to raise the bar on levels of service resulting in highly satisfied, loyal customers.

During this interactive session, we look at the following from a business and a potential customer’s perspective:

The value of emotionally engaged customers
What dissatisfies, satisfies and highly satisfies customers
Elements that set people’s expectation of service delivery

2pm – 3.30pm – Creating your own online videos for business use with Eden Lighthouse

This workshop is ideal for new and developing businesses looking to take their first steps in producing online videos in-house.

From this training workshop delegates will:

Understand the potential of online video as a communication tool, and how it can be used effectively for business purposes
Dispel the myth that it’s too difficult for small businesses to produce videos
Understand a range of commonly-available devices that can be used as part of video production work, including capture devices, editing applications, microphones and tripods
Be able to take a structured approach to planning and shooting videos, including core topics such as storyboarding, shot lists, camera functions, video styles & messages, interviews, permissions, and health & safety
Be aware of common video editing applications
Understand how to organise captured material for efficient editing
Understand the basic principles of editing shots using non-linear video editing techniques
Understand the most common ways in which completed videos can be shared and promoted, including on own websites, via video share platforms such as YouTube, and via social media channels such as Facebook

Ideas and strategies for writing great content for your website, and social media
 
We all need our marketing efforts to help us sell. This workshop is focused on showing you techniques, tricks and tips on how to create content that's designed to entice your potential buyer, and draw them into a sequence from first contact through to making a purchase. 
 
The session will also look specific techniques for email marketing, product descriptions and flyers/leaflets. The session look at:

  • Crafting the right message for your audience.
  • Using emotional hooks.
  • Creating a clear 'call to action’.
  • Writing emails where you introduce yourself to a potential customer.
  • Writing for email marketing campaigns (using tools such as Mailchimp).
  • Writing for your website.
  • Writing product descriptions to sell.
  • This is a practical workshop where you will have the opportunity to write at least three pieces of sales focused copy and get some feedback.
