Recruitment: Manufacturing Advisor

The Growth Company is looking to recruit an experienced manufacturing professional to deliver the Manufacturing Growth Service across Lancashire and Cumbria.  

This role is part of a team of Manufacturing Advisors who deliver detailed diagnostic audits, grant funding and one-to-one support to ambitious manufacturing companies across the North West of England.  

You will have an excellent track record in the manufacturing / engineering sector and will be expected to work closely with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), providing practical support to identify opportunities and barriers to improved productivity, growth and competitiveness; identify eligible and appropriate improvement projects for grant funding; source suitable external consultants to deliver services to clients with grant funding; deliver specialist one-to-one support services direct to clients yourself; track improvements and report against a suite of key performance indicators; and refer in broader complementary support services to clients as appropriate.  

You will be required to develop and build your own client base, taking responsibility for lead generation using excellent business development skills, and maintain relationships with Directors / Owners and operational management teams within SMEs.  

The role also involves working closely with local stakeholders / partners including Local Enterprise Partnerships, Growth Hubs, Chambers of Commerce, local authorities and other business support providers to ensure that clients benefit from the holistic local support offer and that services are responsive to local needs and integrated within local structures.

The successful applicant will be a self-motivated, team player with proven experience in the manufacturing / engineering sector. 

You will be able to handle technical data, are comfortable operating in a fast paced environment, routinely solving problems and thinking innovatively to get the best results in the most cost-effective way whilst complying with fixed contractual obligations. You will have excellent communication skills and have a proven track record in influencing others from shop floor to board level. 

The role involves attendance for meetings at our premises in central Manchester approximately twice a month.  You will be working as part of an integrated business support service that brings together a range of publicly-funded programmes.
