Halecat

Halecat is the hub of the vibrant and eco Witherslack Esate. It consists of the original Georgian house which is now used for holiday lets, events, weddings and exhibitions. The Witherslack Woodlands business manages the estate's 500 hectares of woodlands and provides green energy from wood waste to heat the complex. The east wing of the house is now converted to offices and workshops, mostly artisan and rural but is an eclectic collection of like minded people. The old kitchen garden and garden nursery has been redeveloped into the award winning Abi & Tom's Garden Plants.

All this set in the most beautiful rich limestone mixed ancient woodlands providing a network of paths and areas for visitors to explore. Much of of the woodland management is done in close partnership with Natural England and other partners to ensure the preservation of rare species of wildlife. A haven for country lovers.

Each year we have open days for the artisans, the gardens are open to visit, we host forestry and woodland courses and exhibitions punctuated by weddings and family parties.  An ideal venue for anyone looking for somewhere quirky and unusual and only 15 minutes from the M6, south of Kendal.
